Solution focused hypnotherapy is a type of talking therapy which combines the use of psychotherapy and hypnosis.
We will work collaboratively, using positive solution focused discussions which are goal orientated and set out by you. These discussions prepare you for hypnosis which allows you to focus on the positive aspects of your life and encourages a shift in your perspective.
Hypnosis is very ordinary and is something that we all go in and out of several times a day, such as when we are daydreaming, driving a regular route (that moment when we realise we reached our destination but can’t remember the journey!), reading a good book, running etc. It is a very natural and relaxing state and it is during this relaxed state that we experience changes in our conscious awareness, and the brain and mind can focus on positive and helpful suggestions and thoughts.
Hypnosis is also a necessary and important part of our human existence – our brains need time to relax, reflect and process information.
Hypnotherapy used in therapy sessions is very different to the kind of hypnosis you might have seen on T.V. and is very safe. It is not mind control and you cannot be asked to do something which you do not want to do. In fact, the solution focused therapist will never ask you to do anything as we know that you already have the answers and solutions within, we just facilitate helping you to find them!
The therapy sessions are practical and structured and use strategies based on the latest neuro-scientific research which helps you make significant and positive changes in a relatively short period of time.
I provide important education about the brain and the workings of the mind which empowers you to understand yourself and take control of your life.
Importantly, in solution focused hypnotherapy, we look at what you want to achieve (the solution) rather than focusing on whatever brings you to therapy in the first place (the problem).
We know that both positive and negative thoughts and experiences directly affect our bodies and experience of life, and solution focused hypnotherapy can really help to harness our inner strengths, helping us move forward towards the life we want to live.
I am aware that we cannot change what has happened in the past, but we can definitely find new and positive ways to move forward. We can work together to help you take that first small step up towards the life you want.
